It must be love . . .

Okay I just FELL IN LOVE with a Cavco plan it is a Litchfield 2918A (2918 sq.ft.) Based price at 122,000. It comes standard with OSB. I will be upgrading to 2x6. I have a question about upping to plywood but don't know yet. I am so excited. I haven't actually been in this home yet but will see it in about two weeks. I will let you know. I feel like this huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The plan is ALMOST perfect as it sits.

Now my question!
This price is very low for central/ so. cali. Is this something I should worry about. We will be spending quite a bit on upgrades (like the ext. walls, cabinets, lap siding). I trust the dealer completely because my father has known him for like 10 years. (He goes to the church where my dad preaches.) He is really sold on these homes. How do you all feel about Cavco?

We're switching this time, from a Marlette/Schult to Cavco. Marlette was supposed to be top of the line home (along w/Schult) but no more. I think Cavco's quality has improved ten-fold. I see big and better differences between what we have and what we'll be getting. Since there are many upgrade options in construction, insulation, etc. and floorplans that can be catered to your need, so far I think it's a good buy. Just my 2 cents. Time will tell.

I know that they do a lot of things to cut corners- no baseboards unfinished closets etc. but what exactly do you mean...?

The plan we like is a litchfield model and it is the only plan I really have loved. I know that they build midline homes as compared to silvercrest but we are doing a lot of structural upgrades.
