foundation with wood pads?

Post by TC » Sun Jun 06, 2004 12:14 pm

I finally recieved an estimate from the foundation/set crew for an fha foundation. Its $10,600 for a foundation that includes wood pads and excludes cement piers. This doesnt sound good to me, but I dont know much about foundations. Am I getting *&%$ here? IS wood a good product to use for a foundation. She quoted 164 wood pads...is that unusual?
Im supposed to submit this to the lend tomorrow, any suggested would help.
Thanks, TC

Eugene

Does she mean wooden peir caps? That would be possible, except that sounds like way too many.
If you are talking a double wide, 80' long, and the peirs spaced every 8', that would be about 44 peirs for the main beams, maybe 6 piers along the mate line, 6 more peirs under doors, 56 total peirs, maybe two wood pads per peir, 112.....Hmmm, something doesn't jive.
