Jason, Eugene just what do you think this is? A Jerry Springer show audition?
Jason I cant tell if your mother didnt spank you enough as a child or if you were potty trained at gun point. Either way Just come to this board with your honest questions regarding modular or mh question more then likely someone will help you out.
Gosh nobody is chargeing you for all this advice and really you dont know if anyone has an agenda or not so treat any advice you get here as a starting point for your own investigation. This is the internet not the end-all be-all of information I personally have gotten alot of good advice and just been pointed in the right direction so I could find my own answers. That in my opionion is the internet at its best!!!
I Swear i settled a fight just like you two are having between my 5yr old and 22 monthold yesterday and let me just say it involved soap and a trip to time out(you have been warned ;-)). Look Im just joking trying to keep things on the light and friendly side here so lets all play nice in the sand box and remember we are the grown ups.
and Jason zip it about the spelling errors. Obviously you have a talent for spelling thats great, I personally am a terrible speller could probably learn alot form you-but please remember advice not asked for is critisism.
Good luck to all who are trying to find there way through this somewhat confusing world of modulars and manufactured homes.
Sorry if im a bit bossy today but someone had to say it
Be Cheery,

I digressed when Jason decided to call us all "idiots" for buying manufactured housing. I apoligize to all on this group for my stooping to his level. It is in my nature coming from a powerlifting/military background to defend or aid innocent people. What is apparent to me is that jason has never had a REAL taste of life yet. Probably handed everything, probably never EARNED or APPRECIATES anything. To come on our group and call us all idiots just show's the class of person were dealing with; a very low one. Again, I apoligize to the group.

I did not call everyone an idiot I called you an idiot and only you.You should learn how to spell before you try to correct or make fun of others spelling. My point about this post was that I feel that the problems Mr Munroe has had with his trailor are not maintenace issues but quality issues. If you read his post he says his roof was leaking from day one and his windows never worked properly.I also feel that you should not expect or except the kind of problems he has had even in a seventeen year old home and he has had these problems since day one.I also feel that these trailors are very nice homes for the money. But I cant say they are built better then a stick built. You get what you pay for.Im sorry for sounding like a jerk but this is how I feel about these trailors.I will be moving into my new skyline trailor around July 1st.This is the type of housing I can afford at this time. Im not buying one because I think it is built better then a stick built.I think buying one for that reason is just crazy.

Jason,
It's true, you get what you pay for! I've gone into manufactured homes I wouldn't wish on anybody...and the price reflected that. I've also gone into ones that you couldn't tell were manufactured. One reeked of formaldehyde, one smelled like a new home. One had crap walls, one had sheet rock. One had cheesy veneer cabinets, one had solid oak. I've seen older mh in parks you can't give away and recently saw a 15 year old Burlington on a nice lot selling for 210,000 ( in Maine!) If the manufacturer has a good reputation, they will include the name in the listing. Just like there are good and not so good builders, there are good and not so good MHs. If you are truly smart you will research what will be a big investment. If you think stick-built homes are so great, take a good, long look around the internet where you will find home after home, many new, shoddily built, full of mold, with cracking foundations, unable to get a certificate of occupancy. Caveat emptor....an informed buyer is a happy buyer!

I have really enjoyed reading these posts and am sorry that it seems to be over. I am not sorry, however, to be done reading the word "trailor". I just hate that word.

I Love the word trailer! It describes the thing I camp in every summer!

So since he did not buy the best trailor he should expect and except the problems he has had since day one as regular maintenance

Well heck folks ,I figure this way, if I had purchased a new home ,and had problems it WOULD have been taken care of then ,not complain 17 yrs later

Jason, Please stop calling MH's "trailor" (it is spelled "trailer"') A trailer is a box like vehicle without an engine, with a set of wheels that can be towed behind a car or truck. Such as a camping trailer or moving trailer. My MH cannot be transported this way so therefore it is not a " trailer". It is my home, primary residence, abode , dwelling, whatever........ but not a "trailer"!!! P.S I bought one of those Redman ( 1982 model) last year, and even though it required some work and still does, I'm as happy as a clam or a pig in s--t living in it. It is in a beautiful quiet small park. It's a far cry from the post ww2 house i sold that needed about $50,000 worth oof work. But yes I have noticed some of the shoddy workmanship but there's nothing I cannot handle!
