New Skyline Questions

Post by Paula » Tue Nov 04, 2003 12:04 am

Our 2004 Skyline was delivered October 29 and we got to see it for the first time on Saturday! It's beautiful!! It was built in Lancaster, WI, and the only "problem" we found was a window where we didn't order one. No biggie :) Our dealer said it was the first time he saw a mistake like that in 11 years. Anyway....

We decided that since this is a vacation home for us, we weren't going to go with the drywall option because we didn't want to have to paint. We just have the vinyl covered gypsum board. We have toyed with the idea of putting up a log look wainscot in the living room, dining room and hallways. Can this be done without damaging the home? Would it be the same as installing it in a stick built home? I'm sure we won't be able to do it right away (no money tree growing in the yard yet), but it's something we're considering for the future. What are your thoughts on this?

Thank you!
Paula :)

Adding wainscot to the walls is pretty straightforward. Just like a site-built home.
You will need to cut the batton strips where the wainscot's top edge will be located.
Wainscot dresses up the walls tremendously.

Another "trick" to dress up a batton strip wall is to add base show moulding around the rooms.
