Starting search in Maine

Post by Val » Mon Sep 15, 2003 3:51 pm

My husband and I are considering selling our hundred+ year old farmhouse to move into something new. We are looking at modulars and manufactured housing. There are 3 plants within a half hour of our house. Does anyone know about the quality of Oxford, Burlington or Keiser? Does anyone know of other quality manufacturers in our area? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Val

Hi,
Even though I don't live in your part of the country, I did buy Randy Eaton's book that compares MFH models. He reviews Burlington's homes and gives them one of his highest ratings. His ratings are supposed to be based on solid construction - not on accessories. He does suggest upgrading the insulation package. The other two are not rated.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am much more interested in solid construction than "flash". And thanks for the info about extra insulation. After heating our 9 room beast for 7 years, it would be nice to cut down on the energy expenses. Val
