Lost Title

We are in the process of buying a repossessed manufactured home in Michigan. The problem is that no one can seem to find the title. Does anyone have any advice for me??

Should be easy to check the title info and get a copy from the title authority in the state...If the home was financed with the property..it might mean there is no title and the home is part of the real estate...but doing a title check with the state would still be prudent..

If the home is being sold independent of the real estate..a title is required to transfer the ownership...The seller would have to produce one..and can get it from the state...

I did a little looking around...your state has a WONDERFUL manufactured home owners state law handbook...It can be found at

It is a 24 page pdf file...It has a section on titles and and tells you how to get one even if there was never one before...The seller should be responsible for this..but you can help them..Go to page 8 and 9..The agency listed for this process is...
