Roof load specs - are these numbers accurate?

Post by Bob » Mon Jun 23, 2003 6:29 am

Talked to Ritz-Craft about roof loads and truss size. I was told that on a 5/12 roof, the truss size is 2x4 and that with 16" OC, this is 30lb roof load per side, 60lb roof load total.

Living in the snow belt in central NY, 60lb roof load is what I want. If the above is true, I'm all set.

Am I all set?

Thanks,
Bob

Under HUD rules centeral New York, above the Thruway requires a 30lbs roof load. Most retailers in the State bring in 30lbs as a matter of course, but you should always check the data plate.
Each half's load is 30 pounds for a total of 30 pounds. But, the figure is a bit misleading, as with the testing requirements by HUD test at a higher level dead load.
The fact of the matter is that the home has a roof that will stand up to New York winters.
