Price negotiation

Post by Pam » Thu Jun 19, 2003 6:53 pm

Ok, I have decided on a Patriot-Lincoln Park model. How do I know if the price the dealer is quoting is what I should pay? 3 bd, 2 ba, 1456 sq ft. with living, dining & family room. Options I choose are thermo-vinyl window, stone fireplace, divided wall between family & dining room, drywall in living & dining, basement ready with closed in stairwell. Dealer's price is $47,100 base + $6,000 in options. Do I go to another dealer (there's Fleetwood nearby) & say I can get this & that for this price, Can you beat it? & Then use that info to back up the Patriot dealer? Would appreciate any feedback...Thanks

I have no way of knowing if the price is good...but you cannot compare directly the price of this home with another brand without comparing every standard feature...If the Patriot is what you really want..find another Patriot delaer (with in 200 miles is usually ok) and get quotes for exactly the same items..

There are other items that might also be compared....financing, set up, lot prep...Compare complete delivered turn key prices to be sure the whole package is handled...Of course...check out the dealers as best you can...The best way is with references of previous customers..

Thanks for your response! My son-in-law is my general contractor & he is in the excavation business so he on top of the costs for land prep. I'm just trying to show him that I can get the best deal on the house, since sometimes the kids think I rush into things to quick. I close on my land next week, so I'm anxious to get started but I will take the time to check the dealer out more. I really appreciate your time.
Thanks again!
