Another finding yesterday at the Southern Energy dealer lot...sm
I was driving by (didn't have time to stop, drat it), looking at the facades of some of the new homes they had, and noticed some writing on the end of one of the homes. The vinyl siding wasn't on yet and on the plastic (vapor barrier, I assume) it said "Indies House". It didn't even hit me until I was down the road a piece. lol
Anyway, I remembered some discussions about Indies Houses here and did a search and found them. I was remembering that Mr. Murray recommended them highly, but didn't find that in the archives. Do any of you have any further comments on Indies House that you haven't already made in the archives?
I remember doing an internet search on them when they were mentioned before but found that they weren't available in LA. So I was kind of excited to see them on the lot of the Southern Energy dealer.
I had just about narrowed my serious consideration down to Souther Energy or Patriot's top line. Should I now include Indies House? I really have a hard time finding the time to go look at MH, so I don't want to waste any time when I do go.
Thanks!

There are very similar to the Southern or Southern Lifstyle lines from Southern energy...The middle range of the line...They are a small locally owned plant in Northern AL...they offer some unusual floorplans and will some custom work...
Good Luck

Ah, well, if they are below the Southern Energy line...sm
there is not much use in lookingat them, I guess. I noticed in the pictures I found that it looks like they have 7' sidewalls....since seeing those 8" ones I just can't handle the 7' anymore. There were some beautiful pictures on that site that I found in the archives, but no floor plans. They did have some more interesting facades than the usual, though.

They build a quad wide that sells for 80K or so with 3000 sq. feet...Very impressive if you want large homes..

If you visit their sight now, they have the pics from the Tunica Trade Show. It has
some impressive tape & texture homes in it.
My wife and I have looked at the Patriot Pinnacle series, and like that. We have
looked at the Southern Energy homes, and like the upscale homes that they
build. But... when it comes down to what we want, we keep coming back to
the Indies. When we get ready to purchase, we will take our list of construction
requirements, and features, and get quotes from both SE and Indies. We had to
rule out the Pinnacle because they have no triple wides.
If you would contact one of the salesmen at Indies, they will send you a bunch of
sales slicks with interior and exteriors of their homes. They build a really nice
triple wide which may interest you.
good luck

One more thing about Indies...
They have no dealer lots, but sell through independent dealers of other homes.
This can save you money because there are no dealer kickbacks or rebates
at the the owner level.

Thanks, Johnny. I'm considering the Patriots also...sm
although I've only seen one in real life, their brochure and floor plans have enough info to lead me to believe that they are pretty good. The Indies and the Southern Energy are on the same dealer's lot, so I suppose it would be pretty easy to compare the quality. I'm not sure how much like a tank I should get one built, as I am already in my 40's and it doesn't have to last forever...when I'm gone the kids can junk it or whatever if they have to and still have the land (which I can't even fine yet!).
I saw the Tunica pictures....really nice looking stuff. I'm not sure I'm interested in a triple wide....I only have two kids and I'm lazy, so gobs of square footage doesn't really interest me. I'm thinking 2000-2200 would be plenty. Plus I don't want to spend almost $100,000 on a MH. Can't afford to spend it on any kind of home, frankly.
Thanks again for your input.

Re: 9' sidewalls?! I didn't know there was such a thing! nm
Yep, SE has'em, and they sure are nice. This is one of their new 2003 models.
Has a rock face fireplace that is beautiful. I'll post a model number this weekend.
