Silvercrest homes

Post by Stephanie » Mon Apr 21, 2003 10:13 am

Does anyone have info on Silvercrest homes? I live in San Diego and am considering purchasing land and putting a Silvercrest home on it.

Also, how difficult or expensive are the permits that allow you to put a MH on land that you own?

Thank you,

Stephanie

P.S. ~ I have Randy Eatons books.

Stephanie,

I live in Northern Caliornia and had a Silvercrest home installed on my own property.

I purchased a Silvercrest because they seemed to be a better constructed home than most MHs (a conclusion I arrived at after ready Randys' book). My home came out of the Woodland plant and my major problem was getting service. I did not have any major problems with the home but it was brutal getting them to come out and service the minor problems. It was a threat to report them to the State of California that got there attention and correction of my problems.

I can't really address how difficult it might be to get permits as the contractor handled all that. I don't think he had any problems.

Permit cost can vary by county. My water cost $3000.00, septic was around $500, but again, each county determines cost.

check out Karsten and Palm Harbor. Two setup crews so far that don't work for dealers have said Karsten builds the best home they have ever seen. Seems they have seen a lot of homes. I don't live in a Karsten just passing on some info.

I am considering purchasing a silvercrest home (the M-19 or M-20 model). Can someone let me know the pros and cons of owing a silvercrest home. And if anyone owns those particular models, please let me know if you find the lay-out good for famlies.

Kendra,
My husband and I are looking at the Silvercrest ME-20. Did you end up buying either the 19 or 20? If you have any information /insight and any cost information, we would appreciate it. We were told by the Woodland dealer that the base price on the ME-20 was $215,000.

Thanks - Jen
