We did get to move in before Christmas - 2 days before - Just wondering how picky we can be on our walk through. Never done this before and we love our home but there are lots of little things ( cosmetic not structural ) that could be better.
- some chips on the molding
- some nails left in the carpet
- some molding not meeting each other
- messy caulking
More things
such as carpet in one room bunched up in corner,
little hole in ceiling where it looks like the blown ceiling didn't cover a nail hole.
dent place in kitchen floor
We love our home and it has felt like home from day one but just wondering about that stuff and how long usually do you have to find things.
Thanks
Vickie
walk through list
Re: walk through list
Most Manifacturers want you to do a "30 Day Walkthrough" to list all of the damages you find as you live in the home for the first month. Your home should be warrantied for one year also. I tell my customers that after the 30 day walkthrough, if they find anything else none life threatening then keep a running list of it and if it doesnt bother you too much then save it all till the 11th month and then we will help them arrange their final service from the factory. This seems to work quite well for us. If something happens that you cannot live in the house with, Like a fireplace that does not vent or any utilities or appliences not working then call your dealer IMMEDIATELY! Hope this helps.
Re: walk through list
First you should read your homeowners manual...Cosmetic details are handled different by each factory..Some will only fix those found on the first walk through...Some tell you to send a detailed list by 60 days..then no other cosmetic item will be fixed..
If I remember right you have a Homestead...They are VERY ridged on cosmetics...They will only come once for these items and they must be notified within 60 days of the first day the home was on your lot...They will fix everything on this list...Did you watch the video that came with the home????
Important to understand your factory's warranty..
The list you mentioned is NOT unreasonable..Sounds like most of these are items that should have been right in the first place...Glad you finally got in...Get over the first humps...

Re: walk through list
Thanks so much for all of the help. We purchased a Fleetwood MeadowBrook and we purchased an additional 3 year warrenty in addition to our 2 year that came with our home. We got our warrenty before Fleetwood changed to a one year.
We didn't get a video with our home.
I hate to be picky because our dealer has been wonderful and don't want to call and nick pick but will call and see how they want to do the little things found after I turned in an initial list.
Thanks Again

Re: walk through list
I am not familier with the Fleetwood warranty...But cosmetic items will be limited to a very short period of time and NOT be covered on the extended portion..Read you home owners manual and warranty carefully...Remember after the first year there is likely to be a deductable that you pay...Be sure you understand that well for future reference...Some deductables are per item and some are per service call....That can be a big difference...
The video I mentioned comes with Cavalier Products...Sorry about that...
