Waiting forever

Post by Vickie » Fri Nov 22, 2002 7:40 am

We closed on our new home on Sept 27th. (the day our home was delivered to the lot). Our home was delivered to our land on Friday Nov 15 ( 7 weeks later ). Delivered only - still on wheels and axle. Granted we have had rain every 2 to 3 days for the past 2 months but we are very anxious to move. I keep hearing our trucks can't get in - they will get stuck - . I have been told a good 2 weeks is needed to finish home - still have to have well, septic, and electric installed but am beginning to wonder if we will every move.

Just venting but welcome any words of wisdom

At least your home was delivered. My wife and I closed on our land Sept. 16th and our home order has not even been placed. I waited 6 weeks for the salesmen to send me foundation plans so I could apply for my permits. When I received them it ended up beeing a copy of the installation manual with a generic plan in it that was most likely in his posession the day I set foot in his office. On top of this the salesman is "no longer with them" so I have to deal with the manager I hope that I don't get ripped on my options and price and the manager pulls a "this isn't what was writen in your file". Anyway just venting other than the horrible time line they have treated us ok.

We're in the same boat as well. It's really frustrating! We ordered our home on Aug 1. It was delivered on Oct 7. We still aren't in it and the set up work hasn't been completed. Every day something new comes up. Today it was "you know you have to convert all your appliances from natural gas to propane, right?" Argh. Our new motto is Hurry Up and Wait. Things have gone so wrong in some areas that it almost (almost) seems humorous. Hang in there....it will eventually get finished.

P.S. Sorry to hear things aren't going great for you either, Dan. I had high hopes for you, I know you did your homework.

Thanks for the encouragement Amy. On the positive side I only have the timeline to complain about so far. There are some horror stories on this sight. Hang in there Amy. Soon we will be enjoying our big beautiful homes with thousands of dollars in automatic equity, feeling sorry for the people that paid twice as much for half the size, site built home.

Our last home we ordered was a Palm Harbor, a VERY heavy home. I was really proud of the truckdrivers, they went through about 6 inches of snow with mud under it, it was melting from a warm day. One of the trucks got stuck, we had a tractor to pull him into position to set up the home. We knew since it had snowed that they would have a time getting the house to the foundation so we had a tractor handy. Them trucks came over 800 miles to deliver the house so they were glad we had the tractor so they could get the job done right there, right then. I hope your home is complete soon. I bet thats frustrating. Good luck!

Well - I am sorry every one else is waiting to. We have adopted the motto - One day we will get to move - but for now we are just waiting. Our home is now on blocks and we are expecting the trim out crew to come tomorrow.

We went ahead and put up our tree where we are now so our girls could enjoy it - not sure if we will be in by Christmas or not.

Good Luck everyone
