Transporting a MH....Anyone know Bellmont

Post by Andy » Mon Sep 09, 2002 6:08 pm

Hi all, Iam very new to this board and fairly new to the Manufactured home market. My wife and I own 12 Acres in Vesailles MO that we plan to have a 1700-2000 sq. ft Mh built on. I have began my own research and phone calls and am in the process of ordering Randy's book. I have a couple quick questions though.
#1. What is safe transporting distance of a new MH? I have a few dealers on my list, but don't want to hear them say "we can do that" when it is really not good.
#2. Who is Bellmont? I know they are an umbrella company of Cavalier, but that is all I know. A salesman I spoke to today about the Powerhouse, made famous here by Threnody, ran off some numbers about these Bellmonts. He said he could sell me a base 2300 sq ft for $65900. This after he said he could get me a Powerhouse for $54900. The construction materials and dimensions made sense, but I don't have anything to compare it to (except that it has 2 x 6 ext walls where the Powerhouse is 2 x 4) until his paperwork gets here. Please let me know if any of you have info on this company.
Thanks, Andy
Lost in CT trying to get to MO.

You got it backwords...Bellmont is a Brand name for a Cavalier product...Cavalier operates with many brand names...and all the homes in the SE are basically the same...The prices quoted seem about right depending on what is included..

Shipping distance is not much of a problem except for cost...Big 32x80's can get very expensive to move over long distances..
