Basement cost

Just reading a book on mf homes and the author said that a 28 x 60 ft. daylight basement could cost as much as $40,000. I almost gasped. Does anyone have a better figure. We are looking to built in SW WI and wanted to put either a sectional or modular home on a full basement. Any thoughts from those who have been there.

These numbers scared me also. Talk to someone from your area. We visited a dealer yesterday who said he put a 2040sq ft home on a bsmnt and the bsmnt was about 16K. We live in SW Missouri.
