Buccaneer VS Southern Lifestyles

Need some information. Looking at Buccaneer Powerhouse 28 x 80, $53,900 and Southern Lifestyles LP408 32x80, $63,900. They are practically the same floor plan only the southern lifestyle is about 300 sq. ft larger. The dealer is telling me the Buccaneer is a better built house. My question is: is this true? and if so why is the Buccaneer $10,000 cheaper? I know it is smaller, but that seems like a lot cheaper if it is the better quality house. Also, do these prices seem to be correct? Also, what if anything should I have upgraded in these homes. Thanks in advance!! Any help would be appreciated!!

We purchased a Buccaneer and one upgrade I would make sure to do is upgrading the floor joists to 16" on center instead of 24", which came as a package including upgrading to 2 x 6 walls. We really shopped around and one thing I noticed about Buccaneer is interior colors, patterns, and other decorator choices are limited. One of our biggest issues was to find a dealer with good support. One other thing was Buccaneer came with a lot of features that were not included in other houses, Delta facuets, china sinks, exterior hydrants and outlets. If Southern Lifestyles is made by Southern Energy we looked at them a little but they are not extremely popular in this area. Hope this helps.

The "Power House" by Cavalier..(Buccaneer, Bellcrest, Homestead, Belmont are all the same)..is one of the best value packed homes on the market today...The standard feature list is very long and has many things that are optional on the Southern Lifestyle...The base constuction although quite adequate is not as strong as the Southern Lifestyle...As far as the salespersons boast is concerned..It depends...If he is talking about the boards in the walls, cieling and floor...basic construction..he is wrong...If he is talking about life comforting and quality features..such as windows, cabinets, fixtures, trim, interior door, exterior door, on and on...he is right..

Power House disadvantage is limited decor options..all look good but NO flexability..good options to buy...OSB or plywood floors, zone 3 insulation...there are not many more available..

Southern Lifestyle is a custom manufacturer...They will do anything including complete customer floor plan...You can option in almost all of the features of the Power House...but you will be adding thousands to the price..example..full thermo pane windows will be about $ 1300...the list goes on and on..With a
Southern you can make your home as individual as you want..

The prices for stock homes seem very reasonable and well with in the prices these homes are sold for everyday..Buccaneer also offers many 32x80 floor plans with all of the great features at prices at or lower than thise you mention of the larger Southern...

Good Luck...make your decision soom while rates are low...a small inrease in interest rates will cost you much more than the difference mentioned here..

Speaking as the owner of a Homestead Powerhouse (same thing), you will not be disappointed if you choose it.
