Hey, Threnody - what's going on with your Powerhouse? Did you get the right house set down and have you moved in? Give us the scoop. Hope everything is going well.

Yup. On Wed, 7/10 we got a call the new house had arrived - with tan carpet, tan countertops (they are SO cool), and white molding. By Friday 7/12 it was sitting on the lot.

They've shut all the blinds now, but the day before they did my husband said it looked like they were almost through with the carpeting. Our brick was delivered on Friday. Yesterday it looked like the brick crew were almost through with the house they're working on. As of yesterday, the septic tank has been installed, the power pole & empty electric box are there, the piping and some of the vents are done. The dealer called me yesterday to come pick up a check for the water tap - and I can't get out to the water people during business hours before Friday.

They still need to do the brickwork, install the decks, and then we have to get it inspected by the town before we can get the electrical permit. I'm guessing we're down to a couple of weeks now. That reminds me, I need to go to Lowes and get a mailbox. :-)

I had a bit of a scare this weekend when my mom sent me an email and said "We went out to your house last night and five fire trucks were there. One of the brush piles caught fire by your house." There's three monster brush piles from where they've been clearing the other lots, and what she neglected to mention was the pile that caught fire was THREE LOTS DOWN. So I have a few more grey hairs...

After I posted this my mom called and said the brick crew were out there doing the underpinning (my dad went out there, since he used to work in construction he's loving all this) and they told my dad that they were finishing up that day because they had a job in georgia to do.

They really did a nice job on the underpinning, but my lot is a MESS - they didn't even bother cleaning up.... there's trash all over, bricks strewn everywhere, and it looks awful. I sincerely hope this will be cleaned up first. It looks like we have enough brick left to surround the deck columns, which a lot of homes in the area have and looks nice.

The decks are still not up, but we do have our heat pump, sitting nicely on a concrete slab. I'm going out tomorrow to schedule the water tap. They gave me the check on Tuesday, but I just haven't had the time to drive out to the town water office during business hours.

We're getting there.... slowly but surely!

Sounds like everything is falling into place. When do you move in?

Honestly I have no idea. The town is installing the water tap today, and then because we're in town limits, we have to wait for their inspector to inspect the home before we get our electrical permit for the power company to hook us up.
We also have to have the address number prominently posted somewhere, so I'm guessing i need to make a trip to Lowe's tonight.

I'm guesstimating all this crap will be over with in the next two weeks? I'm just ready to move in.
