Well, all I can say about your new home after looking at the album is W-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w!!!!!!!!!! It's truly BEAUTIFUL! Can you refresh my memory again about what brand it is - it's a Homestead, isn't it? How many square feet? All the construction specs - i.e. 2 x 4's or 2x3's, what kind of flooring, etc.? If I remember correctly, you're in Georgia. Where in Georgia, where did you find your land, is there any more available, and which dealer did you use? I've looked at the Homestead dealership in Cumming, GA, but I didn't see any model like yours. And if you don't mind disclosing it, how much did this model cost you? How many square feet is it? I LOVED the white mantels and fireplaces, and the retreat off the master bedroom. That house would stack up against any site-built home of comparable price - in fact, if would put the site-built in the SHADE! When do you move in? Ya' Done Good, Girl! I'm happy for you and your family.

Tracy,

I'm in SC (Columbia) actually. It's a Homestead Powerhouse, 28x80, I think the square footage is a tad over 2000 square feet. The house itself was 54,9. I know someone who got theirs for 52, but I don't think it had the new upgrades (mbr closet shelving, flat top stove, etc.) Our total land/home package came to just under $76K (and that price includes all the work that has to be done.) How much site built will that get you? :) We are HOPING we will be moving in sometime during July. Boy won't THAT be fun!

I don't know most of the engineering specs off the top of my head, but I know we have Zone II insulation and OSB flooring. I believe Homesteads are built with 2x3's, but I'm not sure. Though like I said before, I slammed doors and didn't see much of a problem. We are putting it on concrete footers (which have already been poured) as well. We are just waiting for them to take the house out. I was told this was supposed to happen last Friday, but as of this afternoon, the footers still don't have a house sitting on them, though they do have paw prints from some monstrous dog that paid our lot a visit this weekend.

I am not crazy about the dark wood moulding, but I will say it does look better in person than it does in photos. Painting it white will be a home project one day. Also, you can't see from the pictures, but the kitchen island has a built in flatware sorter in one of the drawers, and underneath there are two slide out large trash cans. This home is truly the best value out there from what I've seen.

The Power House is only available to exclusive Cavalier (Homestead,Bellcrest..Brigadier) dealers...It is made available to only committed Cavalier dealers...kinda as a bonus for the attention..

e-mail me at [email protected] or call me toll free at 888-706-0811 for specific pricing information for delivery to your area...

In addition to the power house we have about 20 Bellcrests in stock...Remember Bellcrest, Homestead, Cavalier, Belmont and Brigadier are all the exactly the same product...The only difference is where does the factory service come from...We chose Bellcrest because they are closer to the North and Central GA area that we market into..

P.S. you can find a link to this album on our web site now...thanks for the permission Thenody... www.MelvinWilliams.com

I have big problems. (Mr. Murray, I emailed you at your comcast address about it - I emailed you at the augusta address and it came back undeliverable).

My salesman was under the impression that I walked in the house that is sitting on my lot.....the house that has GREEN CARPET it it. I have told him NUMEROUS times since I decided to go with this dealer that I DID NOT WANT GREEN CARPET. I informed him that I had no idea where this house even CAME from, because I have only been in the display model with TAN CARPET, that I was told I was getting an identical one of. Everything about this house is fine, except for the GREEN CARPET I NEVER WANTED. I could care less about the window treatements because I've bought new ones and $3000 worth of furniture that doesn't match GREEN CARPET.

They can give me TAN CARPET and I will still take the house. However, I will not take a discount for just taking the GREEN, or an "allowance" for hiring a contractor to install the right color. That house will have TAN CARPET in it or there will not be a final closing. I'm also thinking about asking them to throw in the bedroom suite from the display model for my trouble.

I will walk if not. I don't have a problem doing so, either.

The whole thing just saddens me really - that they didn't have enough respect for me to even get this right.

Sorry about the email address...I had to change the company address...I made a mistake advertising the web site and was getting 300+ pieces of spam a day...I will be more careful here on my future posts to be sure the right address is listed..

I have sent a response to your email to my home..Hope it helps..

Yes, it was a great help!

My husband called the dealership today. To make a long story short, the salesman is now in deep poo for this (with both the sales manager and the owner of the dealership), he's being fined, and they are removing the house and bringing one with the correct TAN carpet.

I am now a much happier, and calmer, camper. We are going to go back to the lot and take a picture of the (wrong) house so that I can at least get an idea of the way it's being placed, and how much room I have to work with for landscaping. We seemed to have a lot more yard than I thought we would have.

Wouldn't it be easier for everybody to just remove the green carpet and put in the tan carpet? I can't believe they're going to haul the house off and haul in another one just over carpet color. But I'm glad you're getting what you want. Please continue with your postings. This day-by-day reporting is very informative.

Tracy, it's the principle of it. It was the dealer's suggestion to replace the house with another unit. I have explicitly said *numerous* times from the beginning of this sales process that I did NOT want green carpet. When I agreed to buy the powerhouse, and was told I would be getting one *identical* to the display model (which has tan carpet), I even asked "And it will have tan carpet right?" He said "yes". If that's not incompetance at its peak, I don't know what is. I think there is also difference in the wallpaper, because the kitchen wallpaper in the one on my lot looks different from the display. The window treatments are also entirely different.

The green carpet in the house is a shade that was popular some time ago, but with the current trend of sage/olive greens would be difficult to match furniture to now. We all lived through "country blue" in the 80's... hunter green was for the 90's. Tan is timeless. (God, I suddenly feel like Martha Stewart....)

The "wrong" house is gone. My lot is house-less. Let's hope the right one's on there monday!
