Update on my house
Update on my house
We finally got the septic tank permit - it took less than a week, instead of the two weeks we were told it would. The land perked fine. We also got our tax decal - a big ugly bright yellow sticker we have to put in the window of the house. Ugh.
The dealership contractors have been setting up the footers the past few days, and are supposed to take the house out there today. (However, the weather is not looking pretty right now, so I'm not sure how that will affect things.) They will add the brick underpinning after that. I was really impressed with the quality of the bricking they've been doing out there. The ones that were done by a different dealer don't look nearly as nice. I was told the guy is slow, but does great work, and they're right.
After setup, the town inspector has to go out there and give his seal of approval, then they will issue the electrical permit so that SCE&G can come out and hook us up. I'm guessing the walk through will follow that. I found a great list of things to check at http://www.manufactured-housing.org/htm ... d_home.htm
We found a lawyer for the bank closing, and I'm down to needing one cc payoff confirmation letter from my creditors that I need as a stipulation of loan approval. (Fleet are sticking me with a $70 interest charge because they two cycle bill, even though I paid the full amount due prior to the bill due date. I consider it to be the proverbial door hitting me in the rear end on the way out.) We also gave notice to our landlord, and will pay rent on a pro rated basis if we go past the end of the month. I would have liked to given him more notice, but this whole thing has been such a HURRY UP and WAIT process we didn't know when we'd leave.
So that's it for now.... if the house goes up today, I will post another update and possibly a link to photos if the battery in my digital camera holds up.

Re: Update on my house
About that decal in the window - I thought you didn't have to do that for a house sitting on its own land or on a permanent foundation. I thought you just paid real estate taxes like site-built home-owners.
Re: Update on my house
He does pay taxes as real estate...but SC and GA have two different tax systems..home only and real estate...This sticker is bright yellow so that the cop looking for tax cheats can see it and know that the home is taxed as real estate..He/she will not bother this customer and go on with their duties..GA uses a similar system..
Re: Update on my house
The house wasn't out there, btw. We had massive storms blow through yesterday afternoon, so I'm not really suprised.

Pics of the display model of mine (I'm getting an identical model, because they just set this one up on the lot) are at:

I looked at a LOT of homes, and none of them compared to this one.
