Getting into a park

Post by Jim Kempster » Sat Jun 08, 2002 10:18 am

I'm frustrated. I've just retired, selling my home, ordering a new manufactured home, and trying to find a space on which to set it.
Land in California is going up, up, up. No counties in the Bay Area are allowing new "mobile" (manufactured) parks to be built. Therefore, you have to buy an older unit and replace it with a new one. The MF home dealers are snapping up older units as fast as they learn about availability. Average prices are from $50,000 to $70,000 for 30 year-old units which are then junked. Other than moving up to Oregon I see no option but to pay through the nose. Any ideas?
