Purchasing a Manufactured Home

Post by ANN MARIE » Fri May 31, 2002 4:05 pm

I would like to purchase a manufactured home this year before interest rates go up. I would like to put my home on a piece of land in San Diego County, but am having trouble finding affordable land. Realtors don't seem to be that interested in looking for land. Not much commissions I guess. Also, since I am not able to put down a sizable down-payment, I am looking for some government assistance to help me purchase. I was gold there are over 100 government agencies that provide this assistance to first-time home buyers (not all for manufactured homes, of course). I'm exhausted looking. Can anyone point me in the right direction or tell me who I should call. Thank you.

Select a dealer that has access to land in the area that you wish to reside. With land/home packages becoming a large percentage of a dealer's sales, many work with realtors and property owners for land availability.

If your credit is good, tell the dealer you want an FHA loan. Your down payments can be as little as 3% down. There are programs where the dealer can contribute to the closing cost, down payment, etc.

Wells Fargo is a good lender for different kinds of mortgage loans. Check them out on line at wellsfargo.com

Good Luck
