fireplace or wood stove

I would like to hear the experiences of MH owners (residents) in the use of factory installed fireplaces, or, alternatively, a wood heating stove. Are they a good source of supplemental heat (we've known 3 day power outages)? What to use for hearth and wall surround? Our house will be heated by natural gas, but wood is easily and inexpensively avilable in our area.

Hello Barbara,

Yes, certified wood stoves are a great source for heating your home. Gas stoves, upright and inserts are another good source for heating a home. The stoves out today are 80% efficient.
