My husband and I are talking about doing an Oakwood manufactured home. It is going to be a temporary home until we can decide what we want to do as far as building or modular. The plan is to just get us out of the renting game because we feel like we are throwing away our money each month. Oakwood is going to make us the better deal, but I want to make sure that we are really getting a quality home. Even though it will be temporary, we need to consider energy efficiency and overall quality. We live in VA. Thank you for your help.

RE: Oakwood
Jody,
Oakwood is in Bankruptcy right now. I have heard (in other postings here and from other folks) that service is an issue with these folks. If this is just going to be a temporary home, have you thought about buying a good quality repo?
There should be some out there in excellent shape that you could save $1000's on depending on the size you want. I know that here Oakwood was offering some great deals on Repo's and some really good deals on existing inventory.
Hope everything works out well,
Scott
