Southern Energy HOmes
Southern Energy HOmes
Okay, I just KNOW somebody's going to tell me why Southern Energy Homes are no good, but I couldn't believe what I saw today. These houses are custom built, energy wise, they have a good grade standard carpet, they're extremely spacious, and extremely affordable. They also have 2 x 8 floor joists, and meet the Georgia Power Good Sense homes standards. Negative comments, anyone?
Re: Southern Energy HOmes
Not a bad chioce....Southern Energy Homes builds three models..Southern Energy, Southern Lifestyle and Southern (Also Southern Energy of TX)...The top of the line is the Southern Energy down to the Southern..The trim levels and standard features are different..Some constuction differences also...
This company is very custom oriented...They will aloow you to change anything to suit your needs...They even will copy others floor plans..We just delivered another companies floorplan built by Southern E...The customers love it and saved thousands..
Check out their web site if you have not already at http://www.soenergyhomes.com
You can get a list of dealers in your area from this site for price comparison..
My only caution is that Nova Deck (pressboard) floors are standard...Be sure you get the 3/4 inch plywood option...Our dealership handles Southern Lifestyle and we show them all with plywood..
Good Luck

Re: Southern Energy HOmes
Wow, that is GOOD news because I'm really sold on this manufacturer. I think the Novadeck is no longer offered by this particular dealer (Carefree Homes in Athens, GA) because the salesman specifically mentioned plywood flooring and he crossed out Novadeck on the brochure and wrote in "plywood." And yes - the option of designing your own floorplan or copying one from another manufacturer is a fabulous option.
Cosmetically speaking, I would rate these houses right up there with Skyline, which is much more expensive. I was also impressed with the dealership which is family-owned and has been in business for 14 years. The salesman was very knowledgeable and very non-pushy - also a big plus.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Southern Energy HOmes
David, are you in Georgia, and if so, which dealer are you purchasing from?
Re: Southern Energy HOmes
David,
I am also in Texas (San Antonio) and shopping for a nice, large mobile home. I'd be very interested to learn what alternatives you considered besides Southern Energy and why you ruled them out, as well as where you purchased.
Please e-mail me directly as I may not have a chance to get back to this board for awhile.
Thanks,
Vicki
