How will I know?
How will I know?
This may be a dumb question - if I order a home with upgrades in the insulation, how can I verify that this has been done?
Re: How will I know?
I would like to know the answer to this also, any thoughts on this Randy?
Re: How will I know?
Every home has a "data plate", which is a document inside the home that will give you the insulation values from the walls, roof and floors. This has to be accurate to pass the third party inspection that HUD requires.

Re: How will I know?
Hi Shelby,
We actually spent $1000 to upgrade the insulation in our MH and I wondered the same thing. One thing I can tell you is that we have only used our heater a few times and only for a few minutes to take the chill off. While other people in this area are using there heater for hours and hours and even all night. In the summer we hardly had to use the A/C so I do think that the extra insulation is the reason our house is so comfortable. Hope this helps some.

Re: How will I know?
How did you upgrade your insulation, Sandy? What are the R values in the floor, walls, roof of your home?
Re: How will I know?
Hi Isabel,
At this moment I can not answer your question regarding the R values, I'm at work. We upgraded the insulation in our house when our dealer asked us if we wanted to upgrade from 4" walls to 6" walls with the additional insulation. It seemed like a good energy efficient plan so my husband went for it. Like I have boasted in other posts we are paying much less in our utility bills even with A/C and forced heat than in our smaller apt.

Re: How will I know?
Well, I guess my question wasn't so dumb. Thanks, Dan.
Sandy, what state do you live in? Your information is great news to me because I always wondered if that added insulation was really what it's cracked up to be.

Re: How will I know?
Hi again Shelby,
I live in southern California. Again, our home is always comfortable and I do think that it has to do with the extra insulation. I still don't know the R values, sorry. I do know that we are in thermal zone 2 and wind zone 1. Like I said before, I was very skeptical of this extra insulation for a $,1000 cause "you can't see it". But, after living in the house for 9 months, through summer and now some of winter I can tell just by the fact that we hardly have to use the A/C or heater. This morning I put the heater on for 10 minutes and then turned it off cause it had taken the chill off.

Re: How will I know?
Sandy,
We live in the San Deigo area and are looking to put a MH on our own property. Which MH did you get and who was the dealer? Are you happy with your home and did the dealer do what they said they would? We live in older Fleetwood right now in a park and want to move out.
Thanks
Don
