My wife and I live in WA state, and are currently looking into the option of buying a manufactured home, Marlette seems to be one of the largest dealers in our area. Our loan has already been pre-approved, and I have ordered the book titled How to buy a manufactured home and save thousands by Randall Eaton. I ran a search on Marlette through your forum, but no hits came up on it. I was curious if there is anyone that could give me some help in this area?

Buying a Manufactured Home
Re: Buying a Manufactured Home
Marlette is an old brand name in the US....The brand is owned by Oakwood Homes from Greensboro, NC..
Oakwood and all of its divisions is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy...They are supposed to emerge as a new company after the chapter 11 sometime in November...I would not buy until at least then...
Interestingly enough...Oakwood must have just recently started the brand lable in your area...The Marlette web site has a locator service...And does NOT show any product in WA...See the web site at..
http://www.marlettehomes.com/
Most recent company press release about the bankruptcy...
http://www.oakwoodhomes.com/investors/d ... asp?id=311
Since the brand must be fairly new in the area...It will be hard for most here to comment...
How does it stack up to Randy's suggestions for a quality home???

Re: Buying a Manufactured Home
I checked on the Locator, and the dealership came up under my ZIP code 98277,
As for what Randy has said in his book, I have not yet received it. Thatnk you for the info about Oakwood though...

Re: Buying a Manufactured Home
Stop---if you haven't commited yourself, run don't walk to Valley Quality homes in Yakima or go to www.valleyqualityhomes.com You'll never be sorry. Email me and I can give you the address of our home that we bought 15 years ago from them and it still looks great, all we ever did was repaint. Liked it so much we bought another when we moved. Now we live in Arizona and I pleaded with them, that we'd pay and have another hauled down here, but they don't go that far. Oh well. We even went to the factory. Take factory tours, you won't be disappointed. See them without all the glamour of furniture and see how they're built. One at a time or like doll houses with stacks of walls, all bent.
Re: Buying a Manufactured Home
What dealer in Spokane are you referring to? I've just come home from a Sunday spent visiting dealers in Spokane and Post Falls and would love to hear your opinion.
Thanks...
Thanks...
Re: Buying a Manufactured Home
We bought a valley quality home and have been in it for six weeks now. The problem that we are running into is that they don't have any service people. We sent them a ten day list over a month ago and still nothing. Now the drywall is cracking all over, with a massive crack in the master bedroom that is over six feet long. All the service manager has to say is write another list and she did'nt know when they will be able to send someone out. I would suggest anyone looking to buy a home check out the service department. The holidays are coming up fast and my home is crumbling in front of me
