looking for others opinions

My husband and I have been looking at manufactured homes and found one that we like.We are interested in the 2001 Dutch Anniversity 28X80 model. We would like some opinions on the popularity of this model and of the Dutch manufactures. We're not sure if this is a good decision and would like some advice . We are first time homebuyers and we would greatly appreciate any advice.

Dutch is a VERY inexpensive brand. This is because they use cheaper materials. I have had a lot of problems (ever since they were bought by Champion)

Champion Home Builders, Americas largest trash builder is a terrible choice at this time. This comany uses certain name's on thier homes until the name brand has a terrible reputation and then they change their names again. Watch out for them and don't be fooled. Wise choice is to pick another company who uses better building materials than Champion Home Builders. Choose a company that doesn't build in mass production. Good luck!

In my pre-purchase research I have checked out Champion homes. I asked about flooring, was told it was "plywood" I checked and sure enough it was/is NovaDeck.

Listen to Terry he knows what he's talking about.

Two questions: 1. What is "NovaDeck?" 2. Do you know of any other brand names built by Champion?

NovaDeck is particle board! Not so good! In the way of flooring, 'specially when it gets wet.

NOVADECK flooring is not "particle" board per say. It is made up of small "particles" of wood, but the method of the way it's produced is VERY good. Unlike the old "particle board", Novadeck uses an oil-based glue when making the boards. Therefore it is VERY resilient to taking on water. They've done comparison studies on Novadeck verses plywood in water soaking tests. After leaving the 2 kinds of wood soaking in water for a period of time, the plywood began to swell and fall apart after 3 days. The Novadeck took on virtually no water at all because it's made with oil-based glue. The oil in the glue makes it where water will not soak into the Novadeck flooring and damage it like it does on plywood. As far as water, plywood is NOT as good as Novadeck. Just my $.02.

I still would hesitate to buy a home with NovaDeck in it!

are all homes built in factories owned by Champion junk? we are looking at Gateway/Advantage built in Alabama. we have optioned up almost everything; plywood floors, plywood exterior wall backing, plywood roof, 2x6 wall studs, heavy insulation, marble sinks, tape and texture interior walls, ect.....are we wasting our money and time?
