serial number location
serial number location
I'm in the process of purchasing my first home. It is a Vindale Model 360. It had an additional room built in the early 90's. My question is this - FHA is asking for the serial number for the house - im trying to close the deal but this is fast becoming a snag because i cannot find the serial number. They said to look in the cabinets (no luck) and they also said to look in the breaker box (original box was relocated to garage, also no luck with a number). The mortgage lady said to look on the tongue, but when the house was originally built it was put on a slab. Any suggestions on where else to look or who to contact to find out would be greatly appreciated.
Re: serial number location
FHA finance would require the home to be a HUD certified house..That would mean there must be a HUD lable on the home...If so IBITS can supply all the necessary information...Go here to find out how...

You can also get seriel numbers off the title and sometimes the tax recordes and insurance records...Most Vindale's were builtr before the HUD code which would mean this home would NOT qualify for FHA finance...Vindale did build some early modular homes..which would mean they do not have a title and are treated by the lender like any other house...If it is a modular there should be a certification lable in or on the electric panal box...
Good Luck...
