Putting an MH on prviate property

Post by Rob » Mon Feb 13, 2006 7:42 am

Hi.
I'm currently in a mobile home park and I'm considering buying my own land. How do I find out which communities or counties allow an MH on private property? Also, what do I need in the way of land preparation?? Thanks for any help ...

A local Realtor should be able to help you with restrictions on the land you are looking at. A trip to the county courthouse is helpful also. You can drive around and ask neighbors in the area with a MH who they would recommend for land prep or to move your house. There is always someone in the area who is the one to stay away from and one that is better than the rest. Getting to know the neighbors can be a gold mine. Such as our situation...rural water co-op was not setting any new meters. Turned out a neighbor was president of the co-op. Meter was approved post haste. This same neighbor recommended a dozer operator to clear the land and install the septic system. Everybody knows somebody. That's also how we found our land. We had met another neighbor while looking for land and they told us about a place behind them.
