Fleetwood Homes
I would like to hear from other Fleetwood M/H owners and the problems that they have. My wife and I bought a Fleetwood in 1993. Problems started right away with water leaks from the shower that required making a hole in the wall to fix. Three fawcets had to be replaced due to leakage. Door knobs on four doors that would not open had to be replaced, and all this happened in the first year!
Since then we've discovered after a break in, (our steel door was kick in and the frame was'nt even nailed to the house), that our "Super Good Sence" high efficiency home had no insullation around the door or widow frames. The caulking used around the outside window and door trim cracked the third winter and let water in causing the cardboard like trim pieces to crumble away like saw dust. The fifth year I discovered that there was no bracing around one of the roof vents letting it sag and leak. The sixth year the exterior paint peeled off exposing the un primered cardboard like siding to the weather. And now our upgraded carpet is wrinkled every place we walk and our floors creek and grown as we go about our daily routine. I would NEVER recommend a Fleetwood (built in Oregon) to anyone at all. Thanks Bryan and Terry

RE: Fleetwood Homes
Hi Bryan,
I was just wondering what kind of Fleetwood home you bought? Was it a Stoneridge, Fiesta, Stonecreek, etc. single or double wide etc? We live in KY and have been looking at all of the brands have not decided which brand we will buy yet. We do know 3 or 4 people that have bought Fleetwood Homes and have had no trouble at all. If you could tell me what type it was we would appreciate it.
Thanks............

Hello, Let me advise you of Fleetwood homes. This company builds in mass production and has a quota of meet every month. I have a friend who owns a Fleetwood and he says he would not even recommend that particular brand. I also see that for myself. At onetime Fleetwood was a great home but not now. This company doesn't really pay attention to the details and the constructions process. I hope you could look around for another brand. Find a company that pays attention to what they build and the reputation they have. Look at some of the older topics in this web site and you will see numerous complaints about Fleetwood homes americas number one trash. Companies like these shouldn't be in business. Good luck Terry

Thank you Terry for the information. Do you know of any reputable companies in KY. Besides Fleetwood, we have looked at Horton, Clayton, Hart, Riverchase. Do you know anything about Cavalier homes. If you don't mind me asking are you employed in the Mobile home industry, where have you learned about them? Thanks for your help....
RE: Fleetwood Homes
Has anyone heard of complaints about Fleetwood homes made in Washington? We are interested in a double wide made at Woodland WA.

Hi Terry,
my fiance and I have been looking at manufactured homes for about two and a half years now. Originally we thought Fleetwoods were the way to go, however after reading what I have so far on this site, I;m not sure. Also, you aksed about Palm Harbor. We visited the Plant City site(Florida) a couple of weeks ago and I can tell you this - it was quite an impressive visit. We did so at the advice of a Palm Harbor dealer in South Carolina. He told us they built the best homes there.
We also plan to visit the Homes Of Merit facility in Bartow, Fl. We were told by the Palm Harbor dealers that they were second only to them of course. From what I can see on their websites, they appear to be at least comparable in design. We met a Homes Of Merit owner at the Palm Harbor site and he had nothing but good things to say about his four year old home.

RE: Fleetwood Homes
We are looking at a 1988 Fleetwood mfh it is on a piece of land we are very interested in and plan to live in the home for about 3 years while we build. I am trying to justify the value of the home the only other info I have is that it is aprox 1800 square feet...I am concerned about some of the info I have read on newer homes in the Fleetwood line and wondering if anyone has experience with older models? Thanks Lisa
