Guerdon homes

Post by Teri Owens » Sun Oct 02, 2005 9:24 am

Ok. Now I am inquiring about Guerdon homes. They make a modular, however, they have a government contract right now which has put them behind by 8 months. So, that is a long wait but the real problem is that they can't give me a price because of the long wait, so how do I get a construction loan without knowing what the price will be? Anyone that knows, or has a Guerdon please let me know what your experiences have been. I don't see them on the top 25 list in John Grimmes' book either. They look like an excellent home to me. Please help me as I need to make a decision soon. Thank you. Teri Owens.

Ouch..looks like you will be a victim of Katrina...Looks like this plant has taken a FEMA contract...8 months seems extreme..but many plant are 3 or more months backlogged now....material are increasing almost daily...that is why they will not quote..worst problem you might have is interest rates ..NO lender will lock rates that far in advance...Rates could well increase in that time frame..how has your builder/dealer suggested you move forward???... Expect some sort of price increase...expect rate increases of about 20%...If the home is still in budget...Go For it...

John Grissom's ratings are not consumer ratings...manufacturers are listed by size....Yours does not make the list of the top 25 in size...no problem..many others also are not on this list...

Guerdon builds some excellent homes. but they also have a few really bad plants.
It has been a couple of years, but they had a plant in Nebraska and one in Mississippi that were terrible.
The Miss plant may have closed.
The western US plants were all really good.
And as far as the listing, the manufacturers provided most of the info themselves, I wouldn's use any listing to make a decission.
Talk to the people who live in these homes.
