I have a 2003 signature home, in Mobile, Alabama. We have noticed our walls are apparently "sweating" so bad that the wall board is so soft you can put your finger through without much effort. Since we bought the home new in 2002, we have had problems with the section where the 2 parts join. When my husband noticed water streaming from one of our smoke detectors we started checking around and it is just the center walls. When he accidently pushed too hard and his hand went through, we saw mold everywhere between the walls. Can you please tell me what direction we need to persue. The dealer where we purchased the home has gone out of business. Any advice????
It's something to still be having problems after all this time!!!!
Sweating walls
Re: Sweating walls
Sounds like a roof leak... possable on the center line. Stop the water comming in. Centerline leaks are easy to repair. look for any area of the cap that seems to not be laying flat or is missing shingles. . If all else fails a new cap can be made by rolling out roofing paper a bit wider than the cap and shingling over it.
