IF HUD SAYS THE PILLARS ARE TO SMALL, AND THE HOME IS NOT ANCHORED PROPERLY, THEN THE MANUF. SAYS THEY ARE FOR THAT TYPE OF HOME , WHO IS RIGHT? CAN THE MANUF. OVERIDE HUD?
thanks

I had a situation last summer where the buyer was going FHA and had to install additional pillars and anchors. The people I had doing the work install Mobile Homes for a living and they said that we did not need this BUT because the Foundation Inspector requested it done, we had to have the work done.

I am in Georgia and your state may be different.

I assume you mean a FHA inspector.....The manufacturer must offer the first buyer a set up manual..that the home should be set to.....FHA requirements are different...

In order for your home to perform as required under the federal standards, it must be supported and anchored to the manufacturer's approved designs. The manufacturer "must" give you an installation manual and it needs to be followed.

If your mortgage company or the local inspector is having you install it to their methods, if anything happens, go after them. I guarantee you will have problems.
