I own a 1997 southern hospitality manufactored home. With 3 qtr inch plywood floors. The floors are hardwood. It still sits on the metal frame, with concrete footers.I have purchased a gun safe which weighs 1200 lbs.,its going to be placed on an outside wall. Are we going to need to put extra support under the house somehow? If so with what?

Absoultely, you need to put some support where the safe will be. A floor jack on a 18" concrete pad would work. A floor jack is a jack with a pad on each end, joined by a screw type mechanism and is made specifically for supporting floors.

I would use a 4x4 cut to length to span several of the floor joists, put the jack pad in the middle.

How many sq feet will that weight be spread over?

Your set up manual addresses this issue. Because the weight is on the canitlever portion of the floor, it should be supported from the ground up with additional piering.
