Log siding?

We found a place in Oregon that puts cedar log siding on your manufactured home (or stick built). The pictures are impressive, but is that a good idea?
Thanx!

Any kind of log siding will need annual treatments unless you want it to weather.

If you have a manufactured home you might ask a few questions about adding the additional weight to the house and how it impact the frame and will you need extra support?

The main thing is maintenance. Fuqua builds with this siding, I think others do as well. We considered it, but didn't want the maintenance, so went with Hardi-Plank. (we live in rainy NW Oregon).

Sure, it looks great. we have been doing it for several years.
Yes there is more maintenence than vinyl, but many companies offer produscts for log and log siding that lasts for 5 or more years. You can also use the sding inside to get the cabin feel.

If I keep up the maintenance will it last indefinitely? How hard is this maintenance? Is cedar siding (planks) any better?
