Thinking of a Manufactured home for our first house

We are currently researching the option of purchasing a manufactured home. We would like to invest in a few acres of land and would like to have an affordable home to put on it. It seems that this is a good option because of the cost involved with buying realestate with a house already on the amount of property we arfe interested in is way to far out of our price range. We are first time buyers and have seen several manufactured homes and were very impressed with the look and options available. many are just like regular stick built homes. We are interested in the aspect of owning a nice home on a few acres of land and building a larger custom home whatever meathod in the future on another part of that property.

We have looked at several brands of Manufactured homes and have seen many good things about Palm Harbor Homes. Any information that anyone could give would be VERY helpful. Biggest thing is the investment value of the home and the land.

Have a look around here and ask questions. Depending on where you live and how much you can/will get involved, it's possible to buy a used home and site it (if you are going to do a custom later). You can get almost anything you want in a manufactured home, though. I have five acres that came with a poorly-maintained '77 double on it - the value of the house was almost $0 - we replaced it three years later with a brand new triple - it cost about 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a site-built one.

Your looking at quality. However, there are some new entries out there to also consider. Look at Karstens, too. We have a local dealer here and I toured them recently and they are incredible!

We bought a Karsten after looking at everything available. We owned a site built house before and what is nice is that everything is tight, dealede and new. We looooove our Karsten and can't recomend it more highly. It has been an awesome experience. THe best thing about Karsten is that you feel like you are in a custom built site built house. It is not the leat bit "trailer-ish". Good luck in your house hunt.
