Moving a 12 x 60 older trailer

Post by Amy » Tue Nov 23, 2004 12:12 am

We bought an older trailer/mobile to gut out and redo. But we are having a heck of a time in getting any movers to return any of our calls. We did have a "professional" all set up to move it this past Saturday but he basically didn't show up, without the curteousy of a phone call. I'm at my wits end as we need to move this mobile immediately.
Its an older one, 12 x 60 no additions. I'm wondering whats all involved in moving it. It still has the hitch but no wheels underneither.
Is there we could hire a big hauling flat deck truck to haul it to our property? We need to move it approx 40 kms. I'm wondering do professional haulers have special hitches and lifts in their trucks, or can just a regular cargo hauler do this?
As we are gutting it out completely, damage to drywall, or windows isn't a concern of ours at this point.
We are located in Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, if you could suggest someone that will actually return calls, and be available to do the job.
Thanks,
Amy

Hello.
I have bought a modular home and it is in a park in ann arbor mi. i am getting married in march. and i mite want to move my home down to texas. houston would be the city. And i was wondering what that would in tell. and the cost of something like taring apart a modular home and moving it and putting it back together. I have only had the home for 4yrs. And i like it. its a 49,900 home and there is still 43,000 left owing on it. and i am not sure i can sell it by the time it comes to move to texas. So any information on this would be very helpfull.
thank you for your time.

Sincerly,
Lisa Bingham

Did you ever get an answer to you question? I'm wondering the same thing. Only we're moving within the state. Thanks so much.

Moving a home that far would be very expensive...You are calling this home a modular....Is it really a manufactured home...In either case moving this far would be many thousands of dollars....Just moving down the block could cost $3000 or more....Highway mileage ads up fast....
