Additions and insurance
Additions and insurance
I currently live in a 1986 14 x 70 Fleetwood and I'm considering adding a full length addition and converting it into a house. But I have been told that I can only keep mobile home insurance instead of getting house insurance. Is that true? I'd hate to spend $20k+ and only be able to insure it for what the mobile home itself is worth!

Mike:
Unless you are in a manufactured home park land-lease community you should be able to insure the structure for replacement value. Check around with various insurance companies.
But you might save yourself a lot of grief by simply selling your current home, removing it from your site and installing a doublewide manufactured home or a modular home.
In any case, good luck.
