Floor decking

Post by Randy » Fri Dec 03, 2004 6:24 pm

We had some repair men fix a bad place in our floor decking. We had 3/4 decking and they replaced it with 5/8 decking. Is this ok I told them I did not think it was correct to replace the decking with 1/8 inch thinner decking. The home is a PATRIOT HOME and they are the ones who had the work done,And are telling me it is ok and even better. Also when they took the osb off the outside wall their was a big gap between the floor plate and the decking and the decking and the sill plate. In all it was 1/2 inch,Patriots crew just drove some wood that looked like panneling in the crack. Is this normal or the proper way to do the repair. Thanks for your help Randy

Floor decking that is 1/8 inch thinner then the rest is going to leave a uneven floor to say the least. The answer to your question is no,its not correct.Whom ever is doing your repairs doesn't need to be in the line of work they are.
