remodeling modular home

We are looking at a home that is a modular, about 16 years old. It is being called a raise ranch because the modular was put on top of a raised foundation that was used as an in-law apartment. There are steel support posts every 10 feet in the first floor. One post is in the middle of two open rooms. We have been told we can move the post and reenforce ceiling with steel by some and told we can't by others. Is it possible to move/remove the post? Also, would the modular have rafters or trusses? It has vaulted ceilings with sky lights. We would like to take out a wall and to put in a railing instead. Thank you.
