Re-Do Foundation?

Post by lbtcd » Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:00 pm

Hi. My brother is trying to buy a 1983 doublewide with vinyl skirting but his FHA financing won't finance it unless it's brick. Is it possible to somehow re-do the foundation with brick to make it acceptable for FHA financing? And if not, any suggestions for financing it as is? Thank you!

I assume they will be telling you that there is much more to an FHA approval...Brick is NOT required as skirting...but permanent skirting is...block..brick..even wood can be approved...

but there are many other requirements..the piers have to be on permanent footers...they must be surewalled or mortared...anchors must be in concrete..steps must be permanently attached to the ground and wood must not touch the ground...The list goes on and on...Find a FHA inspector that your lender would use..ask him/her for advice..
