Settling time

Post by Tamara » Sun Oct 24, 2004 11:35 am

Hi,
I just purchased a manufactured home, 28X68 and had it set on a foundation. I noticed that it is not completely set down on the sill plate beams of the foundation. It is only off maybe a half inch, but the set crew told me that it would settle in time and that the small gap would disappear. Is this true? I am new to all of this because I replaced a 14 X 70 which didn't even have a slab under it (built in early 70's). What other issues do I have to look forward to? What should I keep my eyes open for that is not an obvious problem? It has not been trimmed out yet, they are coming back this week. Thanks so much.

It should be shimmed to take out the space. When its leveled in there might be small areas where this is necessary. There should not be spaces between the block and frame that "settle in time ".
