How do I repair squeaky floors? I've knocked in the wedges and that helped for awhile, but now it seems to be getting worse. It started out in only one room in the house and now there squeaking in 2 - 3 rooms.

There are bolts underneath along the frame and cross members ... you need to tighten down these bolts from underneath and that will take care of it.

I am having the same problem with my Homes of Merit in Florida purchased in 1/04.
the factory reps have been out here 3 times. seems like every month we get more places that the OSB squeaks.
the factory rep indicated plywood does not do this because it is tongue & groove.
wish I had known that before I spent $80k.
oh well. we live & learn.

The problem with your floor has NOTHING to do with OSB type boards. If the floor is developing squeaks it is because the home is out of level and or plumb. YES it is true that tong and groove can cut down on some floor squeaks. BUT the squeaks are due to the support framing under the floor boards.

Responsibility for this problem is difficult to assign to the factory, the dealer, or even the set up contractor. All buildings settle after construction. This is a result of gravity. As they move very slightly as they settle the wood frame of the structure may become less then perfectly level and/or plumb. This is why wood framed floors in ANY structure can develop squeaks.

Find out what it will take to get the installer to come out and re-level your home. The great majority of settlement, in most parts of the country, happens during the first six to 12 months. One re-leveling, as late as you before the end of the first year, can often eliminate this problem.
