Block wall

Post by Dan » Wed Oct 06, 2004 3:44 pm

I'm having a home put on a slab with a block wall. The wall will not be structural. Will the house need to be "foundation ready" for the blocks to fit up under the house? Thanks

It should be, foundation ready generally means that the front and rear crossmembers are recessed and the out riggers are shorter. Double check with the manufacturer exactly what that means to them.
You are going on a slab, I hope you live in a warm climate! Good luck!

Eugene,

Thanks for the reply. We are in the Pacific Northwest, get a bout 1-3 days of snow every year and rarly dips below 30. 6" reinforced Slab is pit set on clay and my contactor says it will be rock solid. My main concern is drainage so we will have a perimiter footing drain going to a drywell for all runoff. Block wall will be installed after house is set and backfilled. Contracter says he can work around the out riggers and will save a few $ vice ordering foundation ready (mfg wants $1500 for the upgrade). House is a Vally Quality Home out of Yakima, WA. Eaton rates as one of the top homes out there.

Thanks

Dan
