Tie down/foundation

Hi,I was wondering if anyone know's if a doublewide mobilehome needs the tie down foundation system.I just bought a 1976 and it has a concrete pier foundation which is typical,but not the tie-downs.Im in California and have been told yes it needs tie downs, no it doesnt,only single wides,so i'am confused about this.Would appreciate if anyone know's what the deal is on this.Thanks,Sharen

This home was built prior to the HUD code...tie downs would be a matter of local building code...and personal comfort and security...

If you are not moving the home..most likely the local government will have little to say..of course..the home has served folks well without them for nearly 30 years..are they necessary.???..only you can say..
