Steel floor
Steel floor
If I get e new MH with the Steel Super Floor, can they just drop it right onto a slab, with no pilars or prem foundation ?? and if its upgrade to statecode can it be considered modular ?
Re: Steel floor
Something new to me...how about a link to the manufacturers web site with a description of this option...
Re: Steel floor
This option is new to me as well, but know this, after any factory built home leaves the factory, it can't be made into a modular or manufactured home. If you modify this home at the site, it will have to comply with state or local building codes.
Re: Steel floor
I doubt it. You have to have at least 18" below your home, especially since your plumbing is under it.
Re: Steel floor, a new concept?
WHHHHHOOOOAAAAAAAA!!!
After seeing their model (and pricey too, I'd bet) homes, I was impressed. The
steel "super floor" seems to remove the need for floor joists, by combining the
frame and joist section with reinforced beams. Not a bad idea. The 11/8" T&G
plywood flooring is really nice as well.
Everybody take a gander at: http://www.silvercrest.com/sc2.htm

I'd have done that on my Karsten if I could have... looks great.
Re: Steel floor, a new concept?
Aren't they awesome? We had two salesmen come and see us a few weeks ago to give us pricing. But since they were made in CA (the closest to us), they had California prices. We were looking at the Manor series.
They were really nice, but none of the pricing included some of the more basic upgrades or UBC and the cheapest in the manor series was $122,459 for 1883 sq ft. They averaged between $61 and $73 sq ft. This was just the house and delivery.
YIKES!!!!! But beautiful.

The superfloor
Last saturday we were at the silvercrest factory in Corona- Fabulous tour by the way- and we saw the superfloor. It was pretty fabulous. BUT- it was $37 a linear foot per section!! That makes more than $7000 on some of their big triples! But it would be great for over a basement because it gets rid of the need to have extra steel I-Beams under the house. So it makes less of a thick floor between your basement and the top of the house. Not to mention the incredible support!
Re: Steel floor
Hi all, thanx for the input. Yeah we are looking at the M-18. It's $7500. I talked to the salesman and I can get just the regular floor, with 3/4" T&G, instead of the cresdeck, for $2000. He said unless I'm going over a basment, I don't need it. Is 3/4 " good enough for the floor ?? It has to be better than the crapsdeck stuff right ??
