Doublewides vs modular
Doublewides vs modular
I have been researching this topic and I understand that doublewides are built to HUD specifications and Modular are built to state specification. However, do both homes come with serial # plates? If so, how do you tell the difference?
Re: Doublewides vs modular
ALL HUD code homes will have a HUD data plate attached to the home...both inside and outside...
Outside you will see a small red plate (tag) attached to the home..it will be located ...face the long side (front or back on a double..plate will be on all sections)...toward the left side near the end of the home (where tail light would have been )...it will be located about 12 inches up from the bottom and 6 inches from the end of the home...If this tag is there...it IS a HUD home..
Inside..somewhere in the home there will be a data plate...A HUD plate looks like this..

There would be a data certification for a modular...and each state has a different form..will look similar to the HUD plate..but will clearly state the home meets the state code..
