Age of a Mobile Home

Post by Collier Swecker » Sat Apr 17, 2004 12:12 pm

Dear Sir:

How can I tell the age of a particular Mobile Home? I have heard that the last 2 digits of a mobile or manufactured homes serial number indicates the year it was built. Is this correct?

Many Thanks

The year built is in the number...but never the last 2...actually the last 4 or 5 are the actual individual numbers of the home...the numbers and letter in front of them will include year..manufacturer..and state built..Not everyone uses the same system and this can be confusing..

The age will be on the title..and usually on the counties tax records..check them out..

If you can find the Data Plate in the Home, (peice of paper glued to the wall in a closet or laundry or panel box area) the date will be on there. Also if you have the homeowners manual, the warrenty cards will list it as well
