Process?

It won't collapse with a 2 x 3. I moved out of a 65 model single wide last year & can't remember if the walls were made with 2 x 2's or if they were 1 x 2's I know the roof & ceiling joist were 1 x 2's.

Unlike the southeast where there are some smaller builders, in Oklahoma we don't seem to have that available. I have looked a several different MH and cannot find all I am looking for. Franklin has the quality and 8' interior but flat ceilings, Fuqua is 2x3 and 90" sidewalls.Palm Austin plant is about a close as I can get to what I want but still 2x3 which I don't want. Do you know of a smaller custom builder in this area?

Always have to remeber what I said in the past....You are doing right by reviewing posts on these boards...there have been much good info posted...

My guess is that post was in relation to a Cavalier Home...Maybe a Power House...You are right that the walls are not a steady when 2x3"s on 24 inch centers...but often otherwise good buys can be had that might overcome this objection..As with the Cavalier Power House...

Like the other poster here said...I have traded many 30+ year old homes that do not even have 2x4 in the outside walls let alone the inside walls...The roof will not fall down in any of these....

John...I am not real familier with the product there...But there are some good homes built in Texas..

What features are you looking for? Fuqua homes have several different price points with higher end homes built with 2x6 exterior walls, 2x4 interior, 9' sidewalls, etc. My wife and I have looked over several manufacturers and REALLY like the Fuquas. We have also been to the plant in Boonville, MO where the homes are built.

We have a 2001 Silvercrest with 2x3 walls on 16 inch centers and the walls seem pretty solid to me. I read on another forum that there is little difference between 2x4s and 2x3s used in non-support walls. The poster said that the only reason some manufactuers offer them is because the customer ask for them, not because they add additional needed strength.

Fuqua is 2x3 on 16 centers o for interior walls but they look like they make a nice house.

Our 2002 Redman New Moon Elite has 8' sidewalls, drywall throughout, and books state, and we can verify - 2x6 walls - 16" on center. Very sturdy to us.
