What can you tell me about the structural integrity of a hinged roof? We are considering upgrading to a 6:12 pitch hinged roof on a home that comes standard with a 3:12 pitch.

The "articulated hinge roof" is a design that is regularly used in manufactured housing. It allows the home to meet the height requirements for shipment on the highways, and yet allows the increased pitch for installation. The important issue, is not the hinge, but the quality of the dealers installation crew. The hinge works fine, providing the installers are used to a hinged set. Take a look at some of the other high roof sets this dealer has done recently.

Hinged roofs are very popular nationally...I have never heard any problem except with set up as Roy mentioned...

If you have some doubts though..most plants offer a 4x12 without a hinge and thousands less in money...might be a reasonable compromise.
