problems
we bought a home last june and after it was set we were having alot of problems with cracking and shifting. We are being told that our home was set wrong, that they tightened the roof to tight and the floor wouldn't pull together. When the set up company was notified and they looked at the house they said our problem was that the foundation wasn't level and they could fix it and the house doesn't need re-set. This is a 32x76 and we did a roll set. I don't know who to believe and I only want to do this once. How do I find out what is truly wrong with my house ?
Re: problems
This is not the type of situation that can be guessed from this little bit of information. You need to have the home inspected a qualified inspector. The first thing I would do, as a homeowner, is to get out the installation manual that was provided to you, with the home, and read, read, read. Check the spacing on the footings, under the beams, as well as the column supports on the marriage line, and do a little investigation, so that you will be well informed on what installation work was performed.
Re: problems
I did as you suggested and had a licensed home inspector check out our home.
His findings showed that the home was not put together properly. The marriage line at the floor is not totally together and he said they tried to force it so much that they rounded the heads off of the bolts, there is also three piers in the north end of our house that are not even touching the bottom of the house. He said you could reach in and slide out the pier blocks. When I told the mobile home lot about it and his recommendation that the home would have to be taken apart and reset they said they could just put a piece of flooring in over the marriage line to basically cover the gap. I don't agree with this. I told him that they were not going to do cosmetic work. I want the home put together like it is supposed to be. They also said the house could sustain some damage resetting it and I told them they would just have to fix it.

Re: problems
WE HAD A NEW HOME PUT UP IN FEB. OR MARCH OF 2004. WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FLOOR JOISTS. EVERY SECOND OR THIRD ONE SEAMS TO BREAK LOSE AND POP UP AT LEAST A 1/2 INCH AND SOME ARE MORE. WHEN YOU WALK ON THE FLOOR FROM ONE SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO THE OTHER IT IS LIKE A ROLLER COASTER RIDE. THE DEALER HAS FIXED ONE FLOOR ONCE BUT THE SAME FLOOR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THE DEALER ALSO SAID THEY CANNOT KEEP ON COMING OUT TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURE WILL NOT PICK UP THE COST OF THE SAME REPAIR. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH OUR FLOOR. ME AND MY WIFE ARE MARRIED FOR 30 YEARS AND WE HAVE NEVER FOUGHT THIS MUCH OVER ONE THING. THIS IS A 27 X 68 FAIRMOUNT HOME. THANKS RANDY
